Description
I am a PhD student very passionate about plant genetic improvement and at the present moment my studies concern the identification of genes related to biotic stress resistance in grapevine. My main research activities include the development of dsRNA assays and CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing protocols for the validation of grapevine candidate genes of resistance and susceptibility to Plasmopara viticola; the genetic characterization of grapevine germplasm; studies of plant genes expression under different environmental conditions, in vitro culture for the conservation of germplasm and the production of material to be used in Genetic Engineering projects based on NBTs. My hope is to be able to apply all these different approaches to contribute to the development of a sustainable future of plant production, giving my small contribute to the attempt of improving the world we live in.
